Saxos rejse II

Lige en tør, faghistorisk bemærkning i forlængelse af forrige post om computerspillet Saxos rejse: som det ses af billedet, har vi valgt at give Saxo og Sven Aggesen munkekutter og tonsur. Saxo fik cisterciensernes hvide og sorte dragt, mens Sven fik benediktinernes sorte. På den måde er de nemme at kende fra hinanden - men samtidig har vi måske også været med til at cementere en myte. Der er ingen beviser for, at Saxo skulle have været cisterciensermunk, selv om der er opstået en nyere tradition om, at han skulle have været munk i cistercienserklosteret i Sorø. En tradition som især er levende i Sorø, hvor man praler af at have en "Saxos celle". 

I virkeligheden ved vi stort set ingenting om Saxos liv - men alt i alt er det mere sandsynligt, at han var kannik i Lund eller måske i Roskilde, end at han var munk i Sorø.

Men han skulle jo have noget tøj på i spillet! Det samme skulle Sven Aggesen, og han fik så sort munkekutte - selv om der ikke er nogen kilder overhovedet, der angiver, at han skulle have været benediktinermunk...
